PORTLAND, MAINE GURLS TRIP DAY 3

We woke up nice and refreshed to start our day at the famous Holy Donut!

Their donuts are made from Maine potatoes (not potato flour), handmade fresh daily and closes after they are sold out. We must have gotten there early cuz the line was only inside the store.

They had a nice selection and all looked incredibly delish, but decided to get 6-for today, tomorrow, and to bring home…yes, I am bringing home! I got dark chocolate sea salt, lemon, another dark chocolate, Maine blueberry, vanilla, and toasted coconut.

We walked back to the car to eat our donuts cuz the store was packed, and now a line up the street.

I only had half the toasted coconut and half the dark chocolate and stopped, or I may have eaten the rest if it wasn’t too much sugar for me. HOLY SHEET were these good! I took a bite of Kayleen’s vanilla which was out of this world, and my sister’s lemon which was just as good! There were free coupons my sister picked up from the airport where it was buy a drink and get a free donut, so we got an additional 3 free donuts…

Since we are in Maine, we should see some lighthouses, so we drove to Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse to see our first lighthouse!

It was an interesting walk to the lighthouse strategically choosing each rock to avoid twisting an ankle, but we all did it. In the 50 degree windy weather..where it was cold..and my hair was blowing all over the place..and gloomy…and cold…holding onto my phone for dear life, praying the handle on my phone doesn’t all of a sudden break off…

Ok, that was fun…off to Bug Lighthouse…or as my sister honestly thought “Bud” Lighthouse lol.

This one was so cute and little…

Clearly, it’s cold and windy here…ughhh.

Of course I tried to bother Kayleen’s kodak moment (:

So its 11am, we parked at one end of the shopping area, Old Port (I think) and we hit our first brewery for the day at Sebago Brewing. Not quite what I thought it was, being in a restaurant in a hotel with a bar, but ok lol.

Kayleen had the fish and chips-didn’t realize the fish was singular lol. Angela got broccoli, zucchini, and rice (vegan lol), and I got the tuna poke bowl. All very good!

Here’s the Lake Trout Stout, Roundabout Red, Saddleback Ale, and Simmer Down Session Ale.

Oh, and Kayleen thinking she’s actually paying for lunch…the concentration on her face almost made it believable that she was not using MY card…

Shipyard Brewing was the next walking stop!

They had a cute little system going with the flights where you write the numbers down for the beer.

This is what we all got:

Angelas was on top with #12 Prelude Winter Warmer-good, #5 Hazelnut Porter-eh, #11 Blueberry wheat-it was ok, #14 Cucumber Tart-gross…

Mine was on left with #2 Summer Ale-good, #9 Deep Devil Brown Ale-my fav, #1 Nitro stout-very light and good, #6 Export Golden Ale-2nd favorite…

Kayleen was on right with #6, #2, #10 Peach and Grapefruit-actually very good for fruit beer, #13 Watermelon wheat ale-yuk, tasted like gross wanna be watermelon syrup…

We walked over to Oxbow Brewing next!

Here’s the line up:

Blacklight, Space Cowboy, Farmhouse Pale Ale, and Townline Porter, all of which were good!

They also had a selection of meats and cheeses, so of course ordered salami and Cabot Clothbound Cheddar, oh and the bread was soooo good and nutty!

Poor Kayleen, gets red after a few so she looks plastered lol.

I think we hear gelato calling….yeapppp…someone said gelato, so gelato it was! We walked over to Gelato Fiasco where they had a lovely display of gelato!

This is what we all ordered:

and ohhh maaaww gawddd…mine was dark chocolate peanut butter fudge that did not taste like sorbetto, marscapone pistachio caramel which was out of this world, and dark chocolate noir which was also so freakin good! Kayleen got cookie therpay which was so creamy, and Angela got horchata that tasted just like it, chocolate peanut butter, and chocolate almond. All of our gelato was incredibly creamy and smooth, I would definitely go back!

Well, its now 530pm and we tried to go to Rising Tide Brewing, but they closed at 5pm….ughhhhh, but their doors were still open..oh well.

We decided to go back to the place until dinner at Scales at 915pm…I knew we would most likely not go after being so full and taking a nap, 9pm came and we all just stayed in…I guess we had a big day lol…
