PORTLAND,MAINE GURLS TRIP DAY 2

We started our morning off at Bam Bam Bakery where we got coffee, lemon poppyseed muffin, fat bomb, and peanut butter rice crispy fudge, all made inhouse….mmmmm….just enough to tide us over for lunch.

We picked up my sister, Angela, at the airport and headed out for lunch at Espos, another locally owned restaurant, where everything was good! Kayleen got the chicken alfredo, I got caprese salad with chicken breast, and my sister got roasted cauliflower with red pepper cream sauce.

After lunch, we headed out to the International Cryptology Museum where Kayleen wanted to learn about Bigfoot, lol.

Here’s a map of where cryptology creatures have been sited.

This is proof that they are real since they have models of their shit.

She said what she learned is that Bigfoot is bullshit, and that we can open our own cryptology museum and get all the stuff from Amazon lol. Well, we donated $10 each to their “research” non for profit whatever it is…

Well, off to our first brewery for the day, which just so happened to be in the same strip as the Cryptology Museum, next door to be exact! Bissell Brothers Brewery is a locally owned brewery that only distributes locally.

We ordered Baby Genius, Lux, Engram, Bucolia, all of which were DELISH!

We actually contemplated buying some and checking luggage!

We stopped next door to the Cellardoor at the Point.

We hopped in the car to head over to our 2nd stop-Allagash, one of my favorite beers! We discovered there are 4 breweries across the street from each other in this industrial park, AND all walking distance! Yaaassss!! Except, Battery Steele opens in June-oh well.

We ordered White, Triple, Strictivus, and Victor. My favs were the White and Triple.

We walked across the street to Definitive Brewing (our 3rd stop), which seemed to be a new brewery!

We ordered Contee, Sensitive Ears, and 35, which all were delish!

Our 4th stop was Foundation Brew, where we ordered a flight of Riverton Flyer, Burnside, Wanderlust, and Gemutlichkeit. All were yummy!

Then we walked over to Austin Street Brewery for our 5th and last beer tasting for the day.

We ordered the Patina and Let Me Tell You About My Stout, both of which were good! And the stout didn’t taste like it was 9.2%

Interesting find on the wall with all the Maine breweries! So many!!

Bard Coffee was our next stop, where they serve organic and fair trade coffee. I chose nitro cold brew, where they served it over ice…im beginning to think it is a Maine thing to do…

A few short walking blocks down is a place called Gorgeous Gelato…wait gelato?? STOOOPPPP!! We’re going in! Goodness this place is adorb!

I ordered a small half scoop of dark chocolate and Gorgeous-chocolate chips with caramel…oohhh ma gawd delish!

Last stop for the night was dinner at Porthole, which was right next door to where we had dinner at last night. Porthole Friday night was crazy poppin with loud music and tons of people you could barely make your way thru all the people. Tonight was a different story-we got there at 9pm and they close at 10pm. Lots of bars/breweries close 6pm or 7pm on a Saturday, which we found really odd. The area we were in seemed pretty busy for so many places to be closing so early, but Porthole seemed to be one of the few places open still. For them closing at 10, the kitchen seemed to still be open after we left around 10pm, and people seemed to still be getting served at the bar-tons of crowds coming and going.

Our server was clearly on his own schedule, and was far from attentive. He seemed to be standing around a lot, lalagagging. Took several minutes to come to our table, left before we got to finish our drink order, came back, dropped off drinks, left, and we waited another several minutes to order food. I asked how the crab cakes are, and his response was “we make them here,” and left. So are you telling me in between the lines, no they are not?? When he came back I asked about the lobster special and asked if they were pre-cracked, and he said no, but he would help me. Ok, that’s weird…Nah, I’ll order the crab cakes..I had to hunt him down because I decided I wanted to change my order, then he said it was too late, then came back and said it was fine to change it. He dropped off Kayleen’s food, and about 10 minutes later, we saw my food sitting at the counter for several minutes before Angela went up to get my food since our server was MIA. This was 2 twin lobsters at 1.25 pounds.

Thank God Kayleen helped me crack, because I don’t like doing it so much, but this was more meat than last nights at the same weight! My sister was watching Kayleen and I murder and destroy cracking the lobsters as no one was speaking…

We had to get up and ask someone for more napkins, later had to ask for a box for Kayleen’s left overs, and again to get the check. Ridiculous, but the food was good. Going to bed with a $24.95 1.25 pound twin whole lobster in my belly, shit we did a lot today (:
