DENVER DAY 1: GREAT AMERICAN BEER FEST

Well….we’re off to Denver today with my sister Angela, and her boyfriend Leo, and excited to meet our Florida travel buddies Angelica and Cesar. We decided to try out parking in O’hare Economy Lot G where it is $10 per day. It took us a while of driving up and down aisles to finally find a spot to park in, hopped on the shuttle which dropped us off at terminal 3. Normally, we do the remote parking, so this was a first for us.

We’re traveling Spirit which cost us $284.76 for BOTH of us WITH 1 checked bag both ways. It was significantly cheaper to fly Spirit, so made it worth it. We opted to not buy our seats, so we ended up in row 31…let’s hope I don’t get anxious sitting in the back of the plane for 2 hours and 12 minutes. It’s all in my head, right?

That’s not happening again…maybe it is in my head, but I didn’t enjoy that ride. I’m buying seats coming home…

We got in our Uber ($18.85 plus tip), but we couldn’t check in till 4, so we went to some cute restaurant down the street called Stoney’s for lunch, super cute! Music was great, has outdoor patio seating, and an area that has garage doors as walls so its open but inside.

We walked about .40 miles to our airbnb, and settled in. The Great American Beer Festival opens at 530pm, and we planned to meet at 545pm hoping the lines won’t be too bad.

We Uberd to GABF, which was about a 15 minute $5 ride. I got an email from Uber with 2 $5 off codes for the weekend, so I shared the code with all of us to use! Our driver suggested to drop us off at Walton & 13th, which was half way around the Colorado Convention Center because the traffic going to the main entrance is crazy.

Good thing cuz we would have had to walk around the building to get in line! We saw a man holding an arrow sign that said “end of line” so we just so happen to be at the right spot! Surprisingly, the line went pretty quick, maybe 30 minutes, but we were walking most of the time.

We each got our little beer cups and are ready to go!

The 1st row we went into already had really good beers, I wanted to get more but Eddie reminded me there are 800 craft beer vendors and 4000 different beers here…I felt like I needed to chug each sample and move to the next, almost as if it were a race, then I had to take a step back and slow my roll, or it may turn into an early night.

Angelica was so sweet to make us all pretzel necklaces for tonight! Apparently, this is a thing at beer festivals! I honestly didn’t think I would eat the whole necklace, but when I drink, I get the munchies so I ate all of mine, and half of Eddies…

So many good beers, so many ones I didn’t care much for. I only took pics of the ones I really liked, but there was probably double what I didn’t like.

We found the Jameson area and they had some really cool setups. Angelica found the motion picture thing and we all did it for this super cool video

The New Belgium beer sign!!

Left Handed Beer, Eddie’s favorite Nitro Milk Stout

Oh and a campfire lol

It was close to closing at 10pm, so we decided to make our way out and head across the street to Stout Street Social for late night eats and a few beverages.

Cheers to a fabulous time at the Great American Beer Festival!
