Early Anniversary Celebration Steak 48…

I know, I know….Steak 48 Chicago AGAIN?? Eddie and I used to try one top rated steakhouse in Downtown Chicago each month for a few years as our date night…that is, until we came here for the first time in September 2017. Here is the thing: those that know me know I am a really hard person to impress. I won’t say something positive just to be polite, I am completely honest. When I find something that impresses me, even the slightest bit, I make sure it’s known. When I find something that consistently impresses me, I make it known.

Tonight has been our 11th visit, and we have NEVER been disappointed. The staff is always 110%…ALWAYS. We are never treated as we are just diners and all they want to do is quickly flip the tables. Everyone makes eye contact, says hello, smiles, and truly makes you feel special for fine dining. Could it be that we are somewhat regulars? Maybe…BUT it was like that from visit 1…visit 2…all the way up until now.

A lot of places either have amazing service and just OK food, or vice versa-not Steak 48. They CONSISTENTLY have both, and that’s why we come back and don’t voluntarily go elsewhere.

Ok, let’s move on…

We arrive 10 minutes early for our 8pm reservations, and head over to the bar where I order my usual glass of Justin Cabernet Sauvignon, Eddie’s glass of Coors Light, and my new legal age drinker, Kristefer a glass of Bells Two Hearted Ale. Kayleen just had water…what??? We were at the bar just enjoying being with our adult aged children, when about 20 minutes past our reservation, a staff member asked if we have been notified of our table. We didn’t realize we have been waiting that long until she asked, but we also didn’t come hangry lol. She apologized several times, and asked us to follow her to our usual requested dining area…in the kitchen.

She also gave us a sweet hand written Happy Anniversary card!

This garlic parmesan bread literally melts in your mouth. No chewing here!

One of our favorite appetizers is the crispy shrimp. It has a mayo base with a slight kick, that is delish. This was a small, and was perfect for the 4 of us.

My go to dish is pan seared sea bass. They don’t offer it prepared that way, but I request it. Definitely, one of the best sea bass I’ve had. Normally, I take home my entire entree because I eat other stuff and have no room for anything else, but lately I’ve been avoiding the appetizers and bread so I can actually eat my dinner.

Kayleen ordered a salad and was going to share some steak with Eddie, but surprisingly ate the majority of it. Normally she eats like a bird, but it was good enough for her to finish!

Eddie and Kristefer gets the bone-in ribeye, medium plus. I had a bite, swirled that piece around, and damn near had sex with it in my mouth. Every single time I have a piece of their ribeye, it is always consistently delish and seasoned and cooked to serious perfection.

The kids picked french fries and mashed potato as our ala carte sides, I would have preferred greens, but I didn’t complain.

Now that I feel like a stuffed pig, it was time to go throw up in the bathroom and make room for dessert. I mean I’m kidding, but not really…Kayleen wanted the warm vanilla cake which comes with a scoop of vanilla gelato, so we got another scoop of chocolate gelato since one scoop is never enough to share.

Eddie always gets their chocolate gelato, and says it is one of his top 2 favorite places for chocolate gelato.

Then comes the anniversary dessert, red velvet bread pudding…ooo maahh gawd…

Well, thank goodness I dressed appropriately and wore something loose, because I needed to be rolled out of the restaurant in a wheel barrel.

Thank you for another amazing experience here at Steak 48!
