ROLL N2

Love spending nice and sunny beautiful days outside, since it’s not often I get to! We decided to hang out at Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center in Skokie, Illinois, where I went to high school back in the day lol.  We came across what appears to be a pop up ice cream store across from where Lord & Taylor used to be, by Sunglass Hut and Mrs. Fields, called Roll N2.

Its hand-made rolled ice cream made right in front of you, one of my favorite desserts is ice cream and gelato! And chocolate, and cupcakes, and cakes, but that’s another blog….

We stood in a full line at 230pm, and didn’t walk out until 328pm-glad we had nothing else to do at the moment, but enjoy the day!

Here is the menu:

We finally got to the register to order, and immediately after the cashier asked us to move out of the line where we wanted to watch them make it, I’m pretty sure she saw the look on my face of WTF?? and then she said unless we would like to watch, we can stay in line.  This was our first time here so we clearly wanted to enjoy the experience of how they roll ice cream! Tempted to review her, but I left it alone….

We decided to play it safe and order the Oreo Wonderland with Oreos, chocolate drizzle, and chocolate chip cookie-we thought we ordered with chocolate chips, not the cookie… First, the lady poured some cream liquid and one Oreo (imo, 2 would have been better) and started crushing the oreo in little pieces and began mixing the 2 together until it started to harden:

Then, she flattened it to a thin ice cream sheet:

And began to roll 5 separate rolls of ice cream, and scooped it up into a cup for us:

While the entertainment was neat watching this poor lady work her hand and forearm muscles, waiting an hour was not quite worth the wait.  If they had added another Oreo and if it was creamier, it would absolutely have been! The ice cream was good, but not quite enough to wait other than to be entertained and spend $8 vs. $$$ to walk around and shop…we all know I can spend more than $8 in an hour shopping!  I almost would compare it to Cold Stone, but fancier presentation, and not as creamy.

Happy Sunday Funday!
